What is Attendance Allowance?
Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) Attendance Allowance provides additional financial support for individuals whose health and /or daily functional activities are challenged or limited, and who are at or above the state pension age. This benefit aims to help with the extra costs associated with increasing care needs, enabling recipients to maintain a higher quality of life and independence.Â

Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for Attendance Allowance, you must:
Have health and /or daily functional activities challenged or limited.Â
Require care from another person due to this condition.
Have needed care for at least six months.
Be state pension age or over.
Not be in receipt of PIP or DLA benefits.
Importantly, Attendance Allowance is not means-tested. Your savings or income will not affect your eligibility for this benefit.

Attendance Allowance Rates for 2024/25
There are two rates of Attendance Allowance, determined by the level of care and support you need:
Lower rate: £ 314.82 per month (Paid 4 weekly)
Higher rate: £ 470.38 per month (Paid 4 weekly)

If your circumstances change after you've started receiving Attendance Allowance, it's crucial to report these changes to ensure you're receiving the correct amount. You can report changes directly to the DWP.Â
The application form includes a section for a statement from someone who knows you, such as a healthcare professional, carer, or close family member. This statement can strengthen your application by providing an additional perspective on your daily needs.
